FAQ
Baiye No. 1 is a green tea, despite its pale-white young leaves. The name refers to its naturally albino tea cultivar, not the white tea processing category.
Baiye No. 1 is a rare temperature-sensitive cultivar that develops pale leaves with distinctive green veins during a short spring period. Its young leaves are naturally rich in amino acids, giving the tea its characteristic fresh and umami-rich taste.
Expect a fresh, smooth and naturally sweet cup with delicate floral notes, gentle umami and very little harsh bitterness. It finishes with a clean, lingering sweetness.
Yes. Like other teas made from Camellia sinensis, Baiye No. 1 naturally contains caffeine. The exact amount varies with harvest, leaf quantity and brewing method, so we describe it as having a moderate caffeine level.
Use about 3–5 g of tea with 250 ml of water at 80–85°C (176–185°F). Steep for around 1–2 minutes for the first infusion. Avoid boiling water to preserve its delicate sweetness, floral aroma and fresh umami character.
